It seems like an obvious question and answer. However, vision is not often thought of when a child struggles in school by teachers or learning specialists. In addition, vision problems go beyond whether a child can see 20/20 in the distance.

There are numerous visual skills which can affect the quality and efficiency of how one processes vision. On top of all that scientists, education specialists, school boards, pediatric health care professions and politicians do not agree on reasons a child may be struggling and the best process for helping that child. This makes it very confusing to parents on how to proceed to help their child. Vision is not the only reason for why a child struggles, but it is common enough and one of the easiest and least expensive issues to address.

So, having vision evaluated by an eye care practitioner preferably one that specializes in vision development should be on the top of the list when a child struggles in school.
